Everybody has a favorite food, whether it's an entree, dessert, etc. Listed below are some of the most favorite recipes from our members. We want this page to be an open exchange of delectable delights, family recipes or just great-tasting dishes!

Potato Chippers

  • 1c shortening
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1c sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1c brown sugar, packed
  • 2c potato chips, crushed
  • 2 eggs
  • 1c chopped nuts
  • 2c flour
Blend shortening with sugars, add eggs and mix well.
Stir together flour, baking soda, and salt; add shortening mixture.
Stir in chips and nuts, and shape into one inch balls.
Place on ungreased baking sheets and press down with floured fork.
Bake @ 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Makes 4-5 dozen.

Stir-Me-Nots

  • 1/2c melted butter
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1-1/2 c graham cracker crumbs
  • 1c chopped walnuts
  • 1c shredded coconut
  • 1 pkg (12 oz) semisweet chocolate pieces
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Pour batter into 13x9 (or 11x7 for thicker bars) glass baking dish.
Place stick of butter in baking dish to melt while preheating.
DO NOT STIR: sprinkle graham cracker crumbs evenly over melted butter, then coconut.
Sprinkle on chocolate pieces. Pour condensed milk evenly over all ingredients.
Top with nuts. Bake 35-40 minutes.
Cool completely before cutting.

Cool Whip Cookies


Beat in Mixer:

  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • Add 2c Cool Whip and whip
By hand add 1 box of Red Velvet cake mix.
Drop mixture by tsp into confectioner's sugar. Roll into balls.
Bake on lightly greased cookie sheet for 10-12 minutes @ 350 degrees.
Makes 60-75 cookies.
You can use any flavor cake mix. Strawberry makes pink cookies, Lemon makes yellow, chocolate is good if you add nuts, etc.

Jell-O Cookies

  • 3-1/2 c flour
  • 3 sticks softened butter
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 pkgs Jell-O (red or green for holidays)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Mix flour, baking powder, set aside.
Beat butter in large bowl or medium speed in mixer until creamy.
Gradually add sugar and 1 pkg of dry gelatin, beating until light and fluffy.
Add egg and vanilla, mix well. Gradually add flour mixture, beating until well blended.
Shape dough into 1" balls. Place cookies 2" apart on ungreased baking sheets.
Flatten with bottom of clean glass. Sprinkle lightly with remaining dry gelatin.
Bake 8-10 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Cool on wire racks.
Store in tight containers at room temp.

Neiman Marcus Secret Cookie Recipe

  • 2c butter
  • 5c blended oatmeal
  • 24 oz. chocolate chips
  • 4 eggs
  • 4c flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 2c brown sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 tsp soda
  • 3c chopped nuts
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2c sugar
  • 1 - 8oz. Hershey candy bar(grated)
Measure oatmeal, and blend in a blender to a fine powder. Cream butter and both sugars.
Add eggs and vanilla. Mix together with flour, oatmeal, salt, baking powder and soda.
Add chocolate chips, Hershey bar and nuts. Roll into balls, and place 2" apart on a cookie sheet.
Bake for 10 minutes @ 375 degrees.
Makes 112 cookies.

Butterballs

Sift, mix together and stir in:

  • 1c soft butter
  • 2-1/4 c flour
  • 1/2 c confectioner's sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla
Mix in 3/4 c finely chopped nuts.

Chill dough. Roll into 1" balls. Place 2-1/2" apart on ungreased baking sheet.
Bake until set, but not brown @ 400 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
While still warm, roll in confectioner's sugar. Cool.
Roll again in sugar, if desired.
